Our History
The Gould Family Foundation, now operating as the Gould Charitable Foundation, was created in 1988, as a memorial to the late Robert L. Gould. Bob, as he was known, was a leader in the mutual fund industry. He made a name for himself by creating innovative programs, fostering new ideas, and encouraging newcomers to the industry. He had a keen sense of business strategy and focused on being proactive, always aware of new trends in the investment field.
Bob grew up and worked for most of his life in the Boston area where he became a leader in the financial industry. He relocated to Kansas City in the early 1980s to take on a new professional challenge. Although he was only in Kansas City a few years before his death, he had a significant impact on the community, both in business and philanthropic areas. Bob was known throughout his life as a "people person" who easily connected with others.
As a way of keeping his memory alive and honoring his ideals, we, his family, have established and operate this charitable foundation. Over the years, we have focused our giving on projects and organizations that both reflect the values and interests of Bob and our own evolving concerns in both communities.
